Cultural Safety Awareness – Standard 1 (First Priority)

Cultural Safety Awareness Training

An Introduction to culturally safe practices that influence relationships and communication with Aboriginal people. Grow allyship in individuals by supporting and gaining a deeper understanding of the struggles faced by Aboriginal people to create a more just and equitable society.

Learning outcomes

  • Examine the historical experiences and address contemporary social challenges Aboriginal people face.
  • Identify critical issues and establish key aspects of cultural safety and evaluate the extent to which cultural safety is integrated within own work and workplace.
  • Contextualise cultural safety to your work environment & procedures that meet the needs of Aboriginal people.

Cultural Safety Capability - Standard 2 (Second Priority)

Cultural Safety Direction Guide

Evaluate how cultural safety is integrated within the workplace and work practices. Demonstrate internal strategies to examine and analyse your organisation's current cultural safety standard for improved knowledge of culturally safe communication and planning in developing and designing your organisation’s initiatives. 

A cultural safety direction guide ensures the development of culturally appropriate commitments, terminology, and definitions that meet Aboriginal people's cultural safety experiences, concerns, and aspirations. It will also support engaging with Aboriginal people more effectively and meaningfully.

Cultural Safety Capability - Standard 2 (Third Priority)

Cultural Safety Commitment Plan

Apply strategies that prioritise and value the Tasmanian Aboriginal people's cultural context, experiences, aspirations, and needs. Design and develop measurable commitments and actions through authentic and robust relationships with a broad range of cultural knowledge holder specialists and professionals. 

The culturally informed plan will strengthen an organisation’s maturity and strategic direction, ensuring appropriate resources and requirements are in place to shape a realistic and fit-for-purpose approach.

Cultural Immersion

Participate in interactive and experiential learning to continue growth in key aspects of cultural safety that involves authentic partnerships and consultation with Aboriginal people.
